We continued driving through the night, leaving Iowa and heading into South Dakota. At some point, we encountered a small snowstorm, but our car handled it remarkably well. We took a few hours’ break to nap along the way, recharging ourselves for the journey ahead. Finally, around noon, we arrived in Wall City. After checking into our hotel, we took some time to explore the charming small town. One of our highlights was visiting the famous Wall Drug Store, which is pretty much the main attraction of this quaint town. With its eclectic mix of shops, eateries, and quirky attractions, Wall Drug offered a unique and memorable experience that added to the adventure of our road trip.

We seized the opportunity to quickly explore the Badlands while the sun was still up. This timing allowed us to experience the national park in a different light, literally and figuratively. The setting sun cast a golden hue over the dramatic landscapes, highlighting the rugged beauty of the terrain. As we ventured through the park, we were captivated by the unique rock formations and vibrant colors that seemed to come alive in the evening light. It was a breathtaking and serene experience, providing us with a newfound appreciation for the natural wonders of the Badlands.

Later that evening, we enjoyed a hearty dinner at Badlands Saloon and Grille. The warm, rustic ambiance and delicious food provided the perfect setting to unwind after our day of exploring. After our meal, we took a leisurely walk back to our hotel, savoring the cold evening air and reflecting on the day’s adventures. It was a peaceful end to a memorable day, and we looked forward to completely explore Badlands on the following day.
